GEOFLEXheat at SEEP 2026

20-23 July 2026

University of Rome Tor Vergata

After a successful presence at SEEP 2025, the GEOFLEXheat project is pleased to announce its participation in the 18th International Conference on Sustainable Energy & Environmental Protection (SEEP), taking place at the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 20–23 July 2026.

Bringing together researchers, industry professionals and policymakers from around the world, SEEP 2026 provides an international platform for sharing the latest advances in sustainable energy and environmental protection. The conference fosters collaboration across academia, industry and the public sector to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable energy systems.

Keynote lectures

As part of the conference programme, Prof. Hussam Jouhara, GEOFLEXheat Project Coordinator, Full Professor at Brunel University of London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, will deliver a keynote speech entitled:

“Decarbonising the Oil and Gas Sector through Advanced Waste Heat Recovery: Real-World Case Studies.”

The discussion will explore how advanced heat pipe technologies can recover waste heat from industrial processes, improving energy efficiency and supporting decarbonisation in the oil and gas sector. Drawing on nearly two decades of research and development, Prof. Jouhara will present the engineering principles behind these systems, their evolution from laboratory innovation to commercial deployment, and real-world case studies demonstrating their technical, economic and environmental benefits. The talk will also highlight ongoing research and future directions in heat pipe engineering for sustainable industrial applications.

During the conference, GEOFLEXheat will present the latest results from its Horizon Europe-funded research, showcasing innovative solutions to improve the efficiency, flexibility and competitiveness of geothermal energy for industrial applications. Project experts from Brunel University of London and the European Heat Pump Association will highlight developments in advanced heat pipe heat exchangers, high-temperature heat pumps, scaling reactors and digital twin control systems, demonstrating their potential to support reliable, low-carbon industrial geothermal applications.
