PROJECT BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
The need for GEOFLEXHeat arises from the growing urgency to decarbonize industrial heating while addressing scalability, efficiency, and social acceptance challenges within the geothermal sector. Traditional geothermal systems often face technical barriers, such as inefficient heat extraction and scaling deposits, which reduce performance over time. Moreover, social perception and policy hurdles have limited widespread adoption, despite geothermal energy’s immense potential to provide stable and sustainable heat.
By leveraging a multi-disciplinary approach, GEOFLEXHeat aims to bridge the gap between research and market deployment, making geothermal heating more flexible, efficient, and commercially attractive. The project’s innovations will not only improve the reliability and performance of geothermal systems but also demonstrate their feasibility for industrial-scale applications, ensuring long-term energy security and sustainability.
