ENERGY NEXUS CLUSTER

Energy Nexus is a collaborative cluster of European projects focused on advancing energy flexibility, sector integration, and the development of smart grid technologies. These initiatives aim to create cost-optimized, flexible, and resilient energy systems across various sectors, including electricity, heating, cooling, gas, and mobility.

Its key objectives are:

Advancing energy flexibility: developing solutions to manage and optimize demand-side flexibility of distributed and small-scale energy assets.
Promoting sector integration: combining multiple energy systems to decarbonize heating, cooling, electricity, and gas sectors through integrated approaches.
Enhancing consumer participation: empowering consumers to actively engage in energy markets by providing interoperable platforms and services.
Fostering interoperability: ensuring seamless integration and operation of various energy management systems and services across different sectors and regions.

Its key activities are:

 • Development of software frameworks: creating platforms for the rapid and cost-efficient development of standard-compliant energy management solutions.
Implementation of flexibility ecosystems: establishing robust ecosystems on the low voltage grid side to accommodate diverse prosumers, aggregators, and service providers.
Demonstration projects: conducting pilot implementations across multiple European countries to showcase and validate developed solutions in real-world settings.
• Integration of renewable energy sources: incorporating locally produced renewable energy into multi-energy systems to support decarbonisation efforts.
• Development of digital platforms: creating digital services platforms and system planning tools to facilitate effective sector coupling and energy management.
